The leftover chili can feed your dog for up to five days. You can also add ½ tablespoon fish oil to the chili, which will result in good, strong flavors that your dog will love.

Beef Stew

This recipe is a version of human beef stew but some adjustments have been made to make it suitable for dogs. It consists of vegetables for vitamins, meat for protein, and gravy for flavor. This recipe is a good substitute for wet, commercial dog foods.

Yield: 5 cups

Ingredients:

1 small sweet potato

½ cup flour

1 pound stewing beef

½ cup carrots, diced

½ cup green beans, diced

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

½ cup water

Instructions:

Put sweet potato in microwave and let cook for 5-8 minutes, until tender but firm. Remove and put aside.

Slice stewing beef into smaller, nickel-sized chunks. Use a tablespoon of vegetable oil to cook the stewing beef for 10-15 minutes over medium heat. Make sure beef chunks are properly cooked before removing them from pan. Reserve drippings.

Dice sweet potato.

Place drippings over medium-low heat. Gradually add flour and water. Continue to whisk until thick gravy forms.

Add carrots, green beans, sweet potato, and meat to gravy and stir until coated. Continue doing this for about 10 minutes to allow carrots to become tender.

Let cool and serve.
